| Based
in Australia, Born in a Taxi's unique style of
visual, physical and comical performances have kept them in high
demand for entertaining people since 1989. Known for their ensemble
work in which they move between sculptural beauty and comic interaction,
onlookers become willing participants in a event that can unify
a street or a room full of strangers.
The dynamic and uncontrolled environment
of a public space is ideal for allowing Born in a Taxi's improvisation
skills to flourish. Years of experience have taught the company
how to read an audience and pitch a performance accordingly. Whether
you are after elegant beauty, side-splitting humour
or both, Born in a Taxi will add playfulness and intrigue
to any event.
In 2004, two members of the company return
to Europe with street theatre acts: ‘The Twins,' ‘The
Fallen Angels' and ‘The Nudies.'
The
Twins
Enter a world
of the surreal as Jo-Anne masters four-legged dance routines and
sings songs on the ukulele that will have you in tears.
Her sisterly rivalry creates infinite problems.
The
Fallen Angels
Trapped
in the flightless world of human existence and hopelessly tempted
by earthly distraction, these mischievous characters try to regain
their lost place in Nirvana. Their absurd attempts to do so are
beautifully innocent and tragically funny.
The
Nudies
These strange
naked creatures are half mythical, half human, bent on reviving
the ancient pastime of eccentric dance.
