| Tee
off in style with Shoreditch Urban Golf
If you thought golf was all corporate fat cats in bad clothing getting
away from the wife for a weekend, then think again. Shoreditch Urban
Golf is a street style golfing event inviting the average Londoner
to go for a few holes in the heart of East London in a unique golfing
open.
Tee off in London
The streets of Shoreditch will be transformed into an inner city
golfing haven, where golf fans can go head to head across eighteen
holes. Aside from the unusual location the Shoreditch Urban Golf
tournament is a fairly intense golfing affair, with plenty of competition
on the day. Playing mats will be laid down on the streets as golfers
go swing for swing during the day, at what promises to be a lively
day of urban golf action.
Dress
the part
Participants are required to dress in accepted golfing attire, meaning
untucked collared shirts, smart trousers, outrageous hats and preferably
no denim. However, being held in Shoreditch you can expect the event
to be a somewhat funkier occasion than the average golf open, but
be warned – plus fours will be laughed at.
Golf
with a difference
The Shoreditch Urban Golf Open is organised by Shoreditch Golf Club
and presented in association with Jameson, offering a distinctive
twist on the traditional, stereotypical golfing experience. Londoners
can experience all the excitement of a genuine golf tournament on
the streets of the capital at a landmark event on the capital’s
sporting calendar.
Show
some support
You don’t have to be swinging a club to take part in the event.
Spectators are welcome to watch proceedings from the roadside and
show some support for well-dressed putters on the day. Last year’s
Urban Golf tournament attracted crowds of supporters who saw Iron
Giant swing his way into first place. This year’s event is
bound to be just an exciting an occasion with tensions riding high
as competitors putt for glory.
Fun
and games
Visitors can have a go on a special pitch and putt course before
chilling out at the Jameson Clubhouse and visiting a few local bars.
DJs from XFM will also be on hand to help keep the party going and
rumour has it that a few celebs just might make an appearance for
a swing or two.
Turn
up on the day
Registration to take part in the event is free and all registrations
must be made by Sunday 17th September. However, four places will
be available on the day in an exclusive prize draw taking place
at the Jameson Clubhouse from 10am, giving a handful of hopefuls
a chance to turn up and get involved.
