Norman Perryman creates
unique visual responses to music in a dynamic style which moves
between figurative and abstract.
Norman paints on modified overhead projectors, allowing
the audience to watch the constant evolution and dissolution of
his abstract kinetic image-sequences. He paints vivid flowing or
exploding colours or dancing brush-strokes to a carefully
rehearsed graphic choreography. The musicians or dancers
stand or perform in these color-projections, thus becoming totally
integrated in the visuals and reacting to them.
An accomplished master of his art, Norman'scontinuous
visual creations are full of energy
and rhythm. This is like watching
visual music, with every brush-stroke timed to the music.
"
A musician,
who makes music with his brush."

" Confluence - Concerto No. 4 with the Asko Ensemble was a
success. With enormous flair, composer Huang Ruo processed finely-ground
Stravinsky ingredients and spicy Oriental sounds into a movie-like
festive meal. This was intensified by the co-composed live continuous
painting projected above the musicians. Brush artist Norman Perryman
found the Chinese touch brilliantly, here and there literally underlining
the musical sounds."
